The Young Scientist Program is a collaborative effort between scientists, graduate students and teachers to enhance K-12 science education through interactive experiments and activities in the classroom.
1) Empower interested students to pursue higher education and careers in STEM fields regardless of their background
2) Promote diversity in science by challenging stereotypes about what it means to be a scientist. Studies have found that these stereotypes begin as early as second grade. This means that K-12 science outreach is important!
3) Develop undergraduate and graduate students’ leadership, teaching, and communication skills through participation in our events.

We are always recruiting enthusiastic undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to making classroom visits, we bring middle schoolers to the UC Davis campus for an interactive science experience!
