Theta Tau: Co-ed Professional Engineering Fraternity Overview
Theta Tau is the oldest, largest, and foremost professional engineering fraternity in the United States.
Here at UC Davis, we are the only Co-Ed Professional Engineering Fraternity on campus. We pride ourselves on three fundamental pillars: Professionalism, Brotherhood, and Community Service.
Brotherhood. We are a community of passionate engineers dedicated to forming a strong bond between all of our fraternity’s members. It allows for our local organization to become like a tightly knit family, we are all life-long friends that have come together with a common background of engineering.
As a professional engineering fraternity we are always looking for ways to wind down from our busy schedule of classes and study sessions. Besides studying together, we play IM sports, go on quarterly retreats, and attend inter-fraternity mixers. Other various activities we do include Broomball, quarterly weekend retreats (past locations include Santa Cruz and Lake Tahoe), BBQ celebrations, board game nights, and outdoor sports games!
Professionalism. As members of Theta Tau, we strive to build ourselves professionally in order to prepare for the working industry and life after obtaining our educational goals. We regularly hold professional networking events, career and resume workshops, mock interviews, as well as LinkedIn and Eureka workshops in collaboration with the College of Engineering and Internship and Career Center (ICC).
Community Service. We regularly participate in community service projects to help and give back to the surrounding communities. A few examples are Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, working at the UC Davis Student Farm, teaching Hour of Code at libraries in the Woodland area, and volunteering at local food banks.

How do I join Theta Tau?
To join Theta Tau, attend our rush week held at the beginning of every Fall and Spring quarter. Each potential member is chosen after being interviewed at the end of rush week, and must complete the pledge process once given a bid (a bid is an invitation to pledge for Theta Tau).
What is Rushing?
Rushing is a process where people can come and find out what our fraternity is all about, meet the brothers, and sign up for interviews if they are interested in joining. Our rush typically consists of an informational event, time to mingle one-on-one with the brothers, and a social night.
Why should I join Theta Tau?
Theta Tau will give you the opportunity to excel in a professional and business environment. You will take on responsibilities and learn skills not taught in the classroom, such as leadership, organization, time management, public speaking, and much more. Our alumni are always extending job opportunities from their respective companies to the brothers, and you will often have the chance to interact with them to gain perspective of the working world. Our common engineering backgrounds create a valuable resource to any brother in need of help with school.
What are fraternities and sororities?
A fraternity or sorority is a national organization with Greek letters as its name. There are usually many chapters of the organization, meaning local groups at a particular college, and each chapter holds its own name. Theta Tau, Omicron Gamma chapter is the chapter of Theta Tau that is here at UC Davis.
What kind of fraternity is Theta Tau?
Theta Tau is a co-ed professional engineering fraternity. The purpose of Theta Tau is to develop and maintain a high standard of professional interest among its members, and to unite them in a strong bond of fraternal fellowship. We separate ourselves from being a social fraternity because we do not haze our pledges and we encompass a professional, common goal. We hold lots of social events, such as broomball and retreat, and we know how to have fun! Just take a look at our photo gallery!
We welcome students of all majors to come out to our rush events held during Fall and Spring Quarter! There, you will be able to learn more about us and see what Theta Tau has to offer and if we’re a good fit for you!
Free food is provided throughout the week, where you can socialize with brothers, enjoy outdoor activities and games, meet and greet over barbecue and ice cream floats, and meet our wonderful alumni!
We do have some basic requirements: must be in the College of Engineering, with a GPA of 2.3 or higher.
