Mentorships for Undergraduate Research Participants in the Physical and Mathematical Sciences (MURPPS)

Program Overview / Impact

MURPPS is a UC Davis undergraduate mentoring program designed to increase the number of underrepresented students who pursue graduate studies in the physical and mathematical sciences by offering students the chance to work with professors on research projects relevant to their major. The goal of MURPPS is to help create a diverse post-graduate population in the Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

How to Get Involved

Eligibility:

For the MURPPS Program, eligible students must:   Link button to MURPPS application

  • Test into Math 12 or higher
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have and maintain a 2.7 UC cumulative GPA
  • Be African American, American Indian, Alaska Native, Chicano/Latino/ Hispanic, or Pacific Islander (Pacific peoples from Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, Cook Islands, other islands in Polynesia).
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Be a declared MPS major. If you are an undeclared MPS major please indicate this in your student statement and why you are undeclared.
MURRPS participants agree to participate in regular meetings, events, and assignments.
