Mentor-Mentee Program in Humanities, Arts, Cultural Studies and Social Sciences

Program Overview / Impact

The Research Training & Mentorship Program pairs graduate student mentors with second year undergraduates in the humanities and social sciences to introduce students to academic research and build research and analytical skills. This will prepare undergraduate students to approach and work with professors, or pursue an independent research project or honors thesis.

How to Get Involved

Requirements for MENTEES

  • Two-quarter commitment
  • An hour-long meeting with your mentor every other week (every week encouraged)
  • Timely completion of mentor-assigned tasks
  • Attendance at monthly workshops (or completion of make-up assignments)
  • Completion of mid-year and end-of-year program evaluations

Requirements for MENTORS

  • Two-quarter commitment
  • An hour-long meeting with your mentee every other week (every week encouraged)
  • Adequate training for research projects
  • Clearly communicated expectations on research assignments
  • Provide feedback on mentee performance to program coordinator
  • Attendance at quarterly workshops (or completion of make-up assignments)
  • Completion of mid-year and end-of-year program evaluations
